The death of Mrs. Case occured at the home of her son, A. L. Case, near Ringgold on last Sunday morning. Mrs. Case only lacked one year of being on octogenerian, and was one of the earliest settlers in the county. Soon after her marriage to Jacob Case, she moved to Ringgold county, in the year of 1854. Her death resulted from old age and she died as she lived, a devoted christian. The funeral services were held on Monday from the Evangelical church in Ringgold City.

Obituary notices - Case
Mary B. Cox was born July 9, 1823, and died Dec, 6, 1902, aged 79 years, five months, 38 days. She was united in marriage July 24, 1842, to Jacob Case. This union was blessed with 12 children, five boys and seven girls. Her husband and five children have already gone home to the spirit world. She was converted and united with the Baptist church, but after her marriage she and her husband united with the Methodist church, of which they both remained consistent members until called home.
She has lived here since 1854, and endured the hardships of a frontier life. Those who remember her in earlier years speak of her splendid voice and admirable singing. One of her favorite hymns "How Tedious and Tasteless the Hours when Jesus no Longer I See”, is a beautiful hymn and familiar to all.
Her home was often the home of the itinerant preacher and many services were held in her home. Those of the children who yet remain are all in the Lord's service. William Case, one of her sons, lives in Grant City and is one of the main supporters of the United Evangelical church there. Lincoln Case is superintendent of the sunday school at Ringgold.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. S. C. Wadding, assisted by Elder G. W. Mullen, both of the United Evangelical church.
