President’s Message

This months meeting was great and we had a very good turn out. We discussed several things. The flyers are done. Hope everyone that went on the field trip had a very good time and collected a lot of rocks.

Don't forget the rock bag fill next month at Jay & Erla Wood’s house. It is a POT LUCK so bring your favorite side dish. If you have any question give Jay a call. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the pot luck. Remember the rock bag fill will be our monthly meeting. So think about what we need to get done before the Show in September.

We all need to stay on our path of Love and friendship

The meeting was called to order by President Donna Chavez, every one was welcomed. The minutes of the last meeting was read and approved. The Treasurer was absent, so we didn't have the treasurers report.

The problem we had with the show flyers has been corrected, point of contact labels were added to them. Jay thanked all those who went on the field trip for wonderstone, they got a lot of it for the club, a lot of the club members stayed home because of the rain, but guess what, it didn't rain down there. Bob Kirby reported that he has contacted the University of Utah about placing some display cases at the show, he also ask if they would come to one of our meetings to do a demonstration of some sort, they said the would be happy to do both.

We had two more dealers sign up for our show, Teton Gems will not be at our show this year, Donna read a letter from them explaining that they had a prior commitment at the Denver show on that date. Dennis entered our club bulletin in the Rocky Mountain Federation of Mineralogy contest, for club bulletins and the Strata Gems Bulletin won top five small bulletin class, “The Show” by Darrell Bolinder top three poem class, congratulations Dennis and Darrell.

We were reminded of our scheduled field trip to Last Chance on the l9th of May, this will be for Agates. Don’t forget the grab bag fill on June the 9th at 9 AM at Jay Woods place. The door prize was won by Larry Wilson. The meeting was adjourned .

Grab Bag Fill:
Our June meeting will be held in conjunction with our Grab bag fill, June 9th, at Jay & Erla Wood’s House. We will be having a potluck, the club will supply sloppy joes, so bring chairs, plates & side dish.

Opps:
Boy I’m getting good with that word. In the May issue, about the Last Chance Fieldtrip I said go west out of Salina, OPPS!!! I meant EAST, I hope no one ended up in Delta before they found out they went the wrong way. Well I guess that is another good reason to let the club know you’re going.

Rocky Mountain Federation Awards:
I entered the Strata Gem in the Rocky Mountain Federation of Mineralogy contest. For club bulletins the Strata Gems Bulletin won top five in the small bulletin class, “The Show” by Darrell Bolinder top three poem class.

Last Chance Fieldtrip Report:
Thank You Bob & Mickey!!! That was one of the MOST MEMORABLE fieldtrip I have ever been on.

Crafts Idea:
I saw a neat idea for a wheel prize on TV. It was a rain stick made out of a mailing tube. I checked out prices on the tubes, but they were way to much to put on the wheel. Does anyone have access to cardboard mailing tubes or something similar? Pleases let me know, Dennis.
