President’s Message

 The month is just about over, Hope every one got what they wanted for Christmas, We had our Christmas Party everyone had a good time .The weather was bad we got allot of SNOW which made it feel like Christmas. I would like to thank Ruth for all her hard work putting together the party. It was nice seeing Jay & Erla. Hope everyone has a Happy New Year and we all look forward to seeing every body in the New Year. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Quartzsite in January.

Vice Prez Mess

I don’t know how good of a job I can do for the club, but I will do my best. As Vice Prez, I guess it is my job to get programs for the meetings. The person I use to get my stones from has gone out of business & that is where I met a lot of interesting and knowledgeable artisan. But I know we have some VERY knowledgeable members in the club. If possible, I would like you to consider sharing some time with the club. We are getting new members that would love to learn some of the tricks of our hobby.

Hopefully when I get back in the spring I will try and get some demos & classes going. I would like to know what direction the members would like me to go. Basically, what do you want from the club. Check Page 2 on how to contact me.

Tooele Gem And Mineral

Joint Venture

December 15 7:30 PM.

The meeting was called to order by President Donna Chavez every one was welcomed.  This is our combination Christmas party and meeting, and the new phone books were passed out to the members.

We received a thank you card from Bob and Mickey Titus, Erla Woods sister passed away, Ruth had a niece pass away, and the club expressed our sympathy to them.

Jay reported on the club members’ activity at Quartzsite all is going well.

The club appointed officers are as listed in the club bulletin, and Jay Woods has accepted the show chairman's job for next year.

The party continued with the awarding of prizes, and singing of Christmas songs, and the party came to a close.

Strata Gem’s New Look:

I am trying to get the lay out of the Strata Gem a little more in line for competitions in the federations. There is a few things that I’m just WAY to bizzy to do. I need someone to write a report on the club’s activities, i.e. fieldtrips, crafts day, grab bag fill, parties & anything special that might go on at the meeting. I will be trying to put in more Federation articles (space permitting). Not running Federation articles is where I dropped the score last year.

I don’t know how important competitions are to the members, myself just knowing the members enjoy reading it & not just glad they don’t have to do it themselves, is reward enough.
