James A. Lewis appears to be listed in the 1840 Livingston County, Grand River Township, Missouri census. The next head of household listed was Solomon. James apparently (from other census assumptions) had a brother named Solomon, but the head of household and only female seem to have been 40-50 years old while brother Solomon would have been about 28. Perhaps this Solomon was their father -- or an uncle of James A.?

3. Census, 1860, Morris twp, Carroll, Missouri. ⁵⁶ Living with them: Ewing? Owens, 17, school within 1y, Tuesant? Owens, 10, school within 1y.

James married Tallitha (Lewis). (Tallitha (Lewis) was born about 1814 in Tennessee ⁵⁵.)
