James WOLFLEY

picture

bullet  General Notes:

James Wolfley was the youngest brother of Augustus J. Each child got a trip back to visit Ohio after the move to Kansas. James had transacted some business for his father and he disappeared, in Iowa, on the way back to Atchison. They found only his cufflinks. It was presumed that he had been robbed and thrown overboard.

1875 Irving Township, Brown County, White Cloud Kansas Post Office, State Agriculture Census has a James, 26, born in Ohio, living with Joseph Wolfley (24) born in Ohio, Kate Wolfley (24) teacher, born in Indiana, and Earnest Wolfley (1) born in Kansas. Value of his farm was $2,000 and he had $500 worth of implements. I believe that this is a related family but not the son of Augustus. Cutlers 1886 History of Kansas mentions the death of James and this James, though born History of year and having brothers of Joseph and Joh, was still living in the 1900 census of Irving Township, Brown County, Kansas.
