OBITUARY
Matilda Cummings Grubb was born at Green Castle, Putnam county, Ind., September 13, 1842, departed this life December 12, 1926. She leaves to mourn her loss, eight daughters, two sons, forty-one grandchildren and thirty-four great grandchildren. She united with the Christian church at an early age, and came with her parents to Brown county,Kansas. Her father being one of the pioneers of the territory. She was married at Locknane, Kansas, to Augustus J. Wolfley, May 12, 1858, and lived in Nemaha county, Kansas, until the year of 1892 when they removed to Meade county, Kansas. To this union were born thirteen children of whom ten are still living. She was a faithful wife and mother, kind and helpful to her neighbors, always found at her post of duty. At the age of 84 years and three months, after a lingering illness, she passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Merkle, Fowler, Kansas. The funeral was conducted at 2:30 Monday, December 13,at the Christian church by Rev. Clark, of Fowler. The interment was made by the side of her husband at Onaga, Ks., Ecclesiastes 3:11: Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.
