General Notes:

Gus had a drinking problem. He fell from the wagon on the way home from a bar and froze to death. He was Mary Lewis's first husband.?

Gus was among the first children born in Nemaha County, Kansas. Atthe age of 20 he went to Meade County, Kansas, with his father, where they "operated largely in land and cattle." His wife was from Meade County and was left two years after marriage with a young son. His body was interred in a little church yard near his claim.
