Jacob Wolfley was born January 30, 1871. He married Mary Freel, daughter of Hohn and Ann Freel of Soldier, on March 2, 1897. She was born September 17, 1876. They lived at Soldier, later moved to Fowler in Meade County, and then to the Onaga community in 1909. Before moving to Onaga for retirement in 1941, they lived in Section 21,Vienna Township, where he was a farmer and stockman. Their children were Ruth and Augustus John (Bill) Wolfley. Jake died January 1, 1951,and Mary died November 19, 1964. (From Onaga, Kansas Family Histories Website.)

Jacob Wolfley was born on the 31st day of January 1871, near Soldier,Kansas. In March, 1897, he was united in marriage to Mary Freel. To this union were born two children. After having lived in Fowler,Meade County, Kansas, for awhile, they moved back to the vicinity of Onaga, Kansas, where they operated a farm. A few years ago they moved to Onaga for retirement. Mr. Wolfley is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Wolfley; a son, A. J. Wolfley and a daughter, Ruth, Mrs. Don Kelly, both of Onaga. He is also survived by two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Lewis of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Mrs. Minor Padgett, of Fowler, Kansas; several nieces and nephews and many friends. On January 1st, 1951, his days here on earth ended, and he reached the age of 79 years, 11 months and 1 day. Funeral services were held at the Tessendorf Chapel in Onaga on Wednesday afternoon, January 3rd, at 3:30 o'clock, in charge of Rev. Heinz Schwarz, pastor of the First Congregational Church. Burial was in the Onaga Cemetery.(Obituary)
