Saturday night Mrs. Ellis Chapman formerly known as Miss Ellis Thompson who had been suffering the past month of leakage of the heart, passed peacefully away. Her death was very unexpected and she is mourned by a host of relatives dan sympathising friends.

Mrs. Chapman is widly known and highly respected and loved. All who knew her loved her for her ladylike manners and her kind and loving disposition.

Six years ago she taught school at the Manner Academy of Colorado, where she met James D. Chapman whom she married the following February.

Mrs. Chapman is survived by her husband James D. Chapman,r he mothre Mrs. Lydia Thompson, two sisters Mrs. N. J. Reese, Mrs.Thomas Reese and three brothers James, Alto and Earl Thompson.

Funeral services wit be held Tuesday January 18, at one O'clock in the L. D. S. Chapal.

Tombstone inscription: Ellis T. Chapman wife of J.D. Chapman born Sept. 7 1883 died Jan. 15, 1916.

She is buried amongst quite a few Thompsons. Right next to her stone is Lorenda E. Thompson, wife of Daniel Thompson Dec. 23, 1836 - June 21, 1907 and then next to that one is Daniel Thompson Dec 25, 1834 - Jul. 29, 1912 "Father" and then next to his is Lydia Ann wife of Daniel Thompson Sept. 27, 1850 - Jan. 9, 1920.


On the Utah burial sextant records database she is listed as Chapman, Ellis J.

Last Saturday B. L. Robins, Alice Esklund, Ellis Thompson, Hattie Memmott and Blance, Annie and Emma Robins visited the U. B. Dam. It is quite a sight to see the men working as a little girl expressed herself when she saw it. She said "It looks like ants working." There are about 200 teams working, and as many men. At the rate they are working I think there will be no danger of the dam going out.

The schools here this winter are doing good work. We have good teachers; Andrew Anderson of Fillmore is the principal with Misses Ellis Thompson, Cora Hanseen and Marcella Johnson as his assistants.

Dean F. Peterson and wife and Miss Ellis Thompson left Wednesday Morning for Manassa Colorado where Dean and Ellis are going to teach in the Academy this winter.

Mrs. Lydia Thompson and her daughter Mrs. J. D. Chapman spent their Thanksgiving in Niephi with the Mrs. Reeses returning last week. Chapman was quite ill while in Nephi but is recovering now.
