Elbert Archie Chapman
Elbert Archie Chapman 1924 ~ 2008 Elbert Archie Chapman, son of Archie Thomas Chapman and Evelyn E. Valentine, passed away on October 2, 2008 at the Veterans Hospital in Salt lake City. He was born in Alamosa, Colorado on June 26, 1924. Upon his graduation from Alamosa High School, he enlisted in the armed forces and proudly served with General George S. Patton's Third Army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Upon returning from the war, he met in his words "the best woman in the world," . They were married on November 14, 1948 and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Elbert had integrity, knowledge and was extremely outgoing leading him from being a Radio Announcer with KGIW to a Division Manager with Monarch Range Company. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities, including temple worker at the Jordan River Temple for 19 years. He has four wonderful children, ; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, . The family appreciates the loving care he received at the Veterans Hospital. Funeral Services will be held Wed., October 8, 2008 at 12 p.m. at Jordan North 4th Ward, 4270 S. 4145 W. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 W. 4100 S. and one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Hospice at the Salt Lake George E. Wahlen Veterans Center.
