OBITUARY NOTES
ELIZA IVIE
SCIPIO, Millard county, utah, August 29, 1896.-died, at Scipio, Millard county, Utah, August 8th, 1896, Eliza Ivie, widow of James R. ivie.
Sister Ivie was born in Tennessee July 25th, 1807. With her husband she was babtized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1831: was associated with the Saint in the Missouri Persecution of Clay and Cauldwell counties, her husband, James R. Ivie, being a member of Zion's camp; afterwards was with the Saints at Nauvoo, though their home was across the rivver. Joining the driven people she crossed to Winter Quarters in 1846, and then to Utah in 1848. Afterwards aiding to build up several of the frontier settlements with her family she came to Scipio in 1863, where she resided up to the time of her death. Her husband was killed by Indians in 1866. She was the mother of thirteen children. Her descendants now number over five hundred and are scattered throughout Utah and neighboring states. She was always true and faithful. Mother Ivie died in full fellowship and faith in the Gospel of Christ. T.
