Anna Juanita (Nita) Johnson Jones Hamilton
BALLARD/Formerly SALT LAKE CITY- Anna Juanita "Nita" Johnson Jones Hamilton, age 88, of Ballard, died Wed., August 28, 2002 in Roosevelt at the Uintah Basin Medical Center.
She was born November 5, 1913 in Huntington, Emery County, Utah to James William and Nelia Young Johnson.
She married Elmo Jones in 1930 in Grand Junction, CO. They had two children together and were later divorced. She married Bil Hamilton in 1963 in Las Vegas, NV. He died in 1985 in West Jordan, Utah.
Nita lived in Carbon County for 40 years and attended school there. She later moved to Salt Lake City, and also lived in Sandy and West Jordan. She operated taverns in Murray and the Brown Jug Lounge in Sandy. She and Bil traveled all the western states and Old Mexico extensively after they were married. They retired and sold the tavern in 1975 but continued to travel with their little dog, camping in their trailer. She moved to Roosevelt in 1988.
She is survived by a daughter, and her husband , of Ballard; six grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; and three step great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son Lyle Dee Jones in June 1971, a U.S. Navy Veteran.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 31st at the Ballard LDS Church where friends may call 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Huntington Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. under the direction of the Hullinger Mortuary.
