CONVERTS TO MORMONISM.

Hollanders Become Latter - Day Saints and Come from Europe.

A band of twenty Hollanders, converts to the Mormon religion, passed through Denver yesterday on the way to Ogden, Utah. The party was headed by Nana Orsel, a peasant from Rotterdam, 87 years of age. All but one member of the band, were related to the patriarch, who changed his from the Catholic a year ago, and is now seeking a home with the adherents of his new creed.

Orsel attracted a great deal of attention at the Union depot. His and grandchildren were attired in American dress, and with the exception of their language and actions, were not strikingly different from the others of the crowds at the station. But the old man was dressed just as he was accustomed at home, sabots, cap and blouse. He leaned heavily on a stout cane, but proved to be as nimble as most of his grandchildren.

In charge of the immigrants was Arie Van de Graaff, a young Mormon elder from Amsterdam. It was his first visit to America although his parents have lived In Ogden for several years. The young man was induced to enter the church of the Latter-day Saints by missionaries in his native city, and from them learned the English language which he speaks fluently. He spent three years in mission work in Germany and Belgium, and is familiar with the German and French languages.

"The Mormons In Europe" said Van de Graaff, "are growing steadily in numbers, especially in the Netherlands and Germany. We believe in colonizing all the poor people, as far as possible, in Utah and expect an Influx of thousands within a few years. Every ship which comes from the continent's northern ports to America brings some who have seen and avowed, the light." -Denver News.
